Sawako Ama, Reverend
Certified Yu-shiki Breathwork® Instructor
Performing Artist, Choreographer
Wholistic Living Advisor
New Moon Tea Ceremony Facilitator
Sawako was born and raised in a Buddhist temple in the southern part of Japan. The safety and sacred feeling she felt being in the temple throughout her life has become an important part of her expression when she dances and teaches. She has studied many different styles of dance all through her life including: ballet, jazz, African, Hula and Okagura (Japanese sacred shrine dance) and she brings her own unique expressions into the art of bellydance and beyond.
She is a multi-award winning dancer who has been performing at various venues and events in Northern California and Japan for over 10 years. She started as a member of American Tribal Style Bellydance Troupe MANASA based in Sacramento. Since 2010 she has been integrating solo dance including Raqs sharqi (Egyptian style bellydance), tribal fusion style (contemporary) bellydance and sacred/ritualistic dance into her work with a focus on the connection between body, mind and soul. She celebrates the art of life by blending diverse cultures in her original style of bellydance. With a sacred intention, her improvisational dance style invokes a passion and spirit of celebrating life and following our hearts desire. She is also a member of Sambandha, music of the world, as a dancer and a musician and is a member of Kohaku, traditional and contemporary Japanese performing arts.

Maria Miller Silvert
For over 30 years, I have studied and practiced yoga, meditation, painting as a spiritual practice,
Eastern philosophies, Transpersonal Psychology and Consciousness. I earned a Master’s degree in
Counseling Psychology from JFK University, California and am a practicing psychotherapist as well as a
Kripalu yoga teacher. A student of kundalini meditation with Swami Khecaranatha since 2007, I took
teacher initiation vows in June 2019.
Growing up in Florida in an areligious family - my father was an atheist and my mother a non-
practicing Catholic - I developed a deep yearning for purpose and meaning. An early trauma propelled
me into years of depression and confusion, of searching outwardly for something that would make the
pain go away. Finally I realized the only way out was to go deeper within myself. Opening to and living
in the heart of the Divine is the only truly satisfying and fulfilling experience.
Practicing and experimenting with different teachers over the years, it wasn’t until I committed to my teacher, Swami Khecaranatha, in 2007, that true transformation of my spiritual practice and life has occurred. I feel so grateful to be able to learn and share my life with an authentic spiritual master and the power of this spiritual lineage. I am dedicated to sharing the teachings and practices of the Heart of Consciousness with other seekers. The teachings are profound and ancient, and yet they are relevant and completely applicable to our modern, daily lives.
